KOBİA delegation took part in the 7th Istanbul PPP Week

The delegation of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) was represented at the 7th Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Week held in Istanbul on January 16-19, 2023.

In his speech at the opening ceremony of the event, the Chairman of the Management Board of KOBİA, Orkhan Mammadov, laid out information about the implementation of the PPP mechanism in our country and the work done in this field. He also noted, that the "2022-2026 socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan" envisages the implementation of PPP projects in various fields and informed the meeting participants about the entry into force of the new law "On Public-Private Partnership", covering all aspects of PPP.

After the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of the KOBİA, Orkhan Mammadov and the deputy director of the PPP Development Center, Hamlet Ismailov met with the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, Adil Karaismaioglu. At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on public-private partnership in the field of transport and infrastructure, the activities of companies of Türkiye in our country, and the support to be provided by KOBİA to businesspersons who wish to start a business in Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of the 7th Istanbul PPP Week, KOBİA delegation met with Ziad Alexander Hayek, the president of the World Association of PPP Institutions and Professionals (WAPPP), one of the organizations specialized in the field of public-private sector partnership. The Agency's support in the field of PPP, as well as opportunities for expanding cooperation with WAPPP were discussed at the meeting.

During the panel discussions and presentations held in the framework of the event, deputy director of the PPP Development Center, Hamlet Ismailov noted, that the Center is interested in searching and selecting of prospective PPP projects to be implemented in Baku and the regions of the country and attracting investments in this area. He also stressed that KOBİA is interested in finding potential partners and implementing PPP pilot projects in various infrastructure sectors.
